The Broward County Public School system is reporting the lowest administrative costs in Florida. This report is based on a report released by the Florida Department of Education and includes data for all of the state’s 67 school districts, according a release by Cathleen Brennan, spokesperson for the Broward County Public School system.
One major reason for cost savings include the redesign of the District’s healthcare plans to contain risings costs by moving to a self-insured model, bidding contracts to reduce administrative costs and encouraging the use of lower cost generic drugs. Other reasons include the streamlining of District operations and relocation of District departments from the Sawgrass Technology Park to offices on District properties, according to Brennan.
"I hope Broward schools continue to work on reducing costs. I don't like to see government waste," said Meghan Stanton.
