Brooklyn running: This week (Nov. 13-19)

This week in Brooklyn, runners can look forward to several fun events. However, in terms of weather, it may be a bit dreary through Wednesday as Brooklyn is expected to receive about an inch of rain through Wednesday AM (Tuesday is only forecasted for showers in the morning). If you're scared of melting, try out Bodyrock.tv as a cross-training exercise (15 minute exercise routines to do at home and are guaranteed to make you sweat!).

If you didn't have the opportunity to run the 2011 NYC ING Marathon, now is your chance to sign up for the Brooklyn Marathon, which will be held next Sunday, November 20. Only a handful of spots are available, so registering sooner rather than later is better.

On Wednesday, the Prospect Park Track Club is hosting a group run at 7:15 p.m. at the Grand Army Plaza entrance to Prospect Park. It is a free event and open to all. JackRabbit Sports also hosts a group run on Wednesdays, starting at 7 p.m. from their location in Park Slope (151 7th Avenue). Or, if you are up for a train ride, head to JackRabbit Sports' Post Season Mixer at its Union Square location at 6:30 p.m. Talk about upcoming races and enjoy wine and cheese with fellow runners. You must RSVP by emailing custserv@jackrabbitsports.com

Ladies are invited to head to JackRabbit Sports' Union Square location on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. for Ladies' Night, where Kristi Latham from Metro SportsMed will talk about the "Q Angle" and S.I. joint, as well as their impact on running injuries and other issues that women face when running.

The New York Adventure Racing Association is hosting a Fall Flat 5K Race on Staten Island in Willowbrook Park, starting at 10 a.m. A mostly flat trail, the course wraps around the lake on Willowbrook's White Trail. Registration is $30 per runner.
