Brooklyn Nets trade rumors suggest a Paul Millsap trade could be on the horizon for the team. According to a report from Sunday (Jan. 20), the Nets are one of three teams that could make a strong play for Millsap before the NBA trade deadline. This could be the exact player that Brooklyn has been looking for to take over as the starting power forward.
This is big news for fantasy basketball owners, because Millsap could definitely see an increase in his numbers if he went to the Nets. Surrounded by good guards, he could really benefit from playing with Deron Williams again. While Millsap is posting averages of just 14.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game this season, he could get into double-double territory with an increase in minutes on a new team.
The reason that Utah Jazz trade rumors like these are popping up is because Millsap is a free agent at the end of the current season. He could sign with a new team and leave Utah with no compensation in return. Though there is a shot that the team could re-sign him, it's a pretty big risk to let someone as sought after as Millsap simply walk into the open market.
There are going to be a number of Brooklyn Nets trade rumors surfacing before the deadline in February, especially as the franchise tries to give the team its best shot in the postseason. A Paul Millsap trade certainly makes a lot of sense for the Nets, but Utah might not find a return package that they are comfortable making here.
