On Saturday night, five people were stabbed to death in the Brooklyn borough of New York City, according to an NBC report on Sunday shortly after midnight. In the deadly attack, one person was injured as well, according to local police.
Two boys, two girls, and their mother were killed by the husband's cousin, 25-year-old Ming Dong Chen. He allegedly killed the five persons with a meat cleaver. He is charged with five murders, criminal possession of a weapon, and attacking a police officer.
The murdered persons are Linda Zhuo, 9, Kevin Zhuo, 5. Amy Zhuo, 7, William Zhuo, 1, and Qiao Zhen Li, 37. Li's husband returned home after the police arrived and is not suspected of having any involvement with the murdering of his family.
Police have yet to discuss a motive for the murders publicly.
In the Sunset Park neighborhood where the attack occurred, three of the victims – who included children – were found dead at the scene of the crime. Two others died at the hospital. One other is being treated at the hospital. Specifically, the attack occurred in the 800 block of 57th Street somewhere around 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
The type of weapon used by the attacker in the vicious attack has not been reported.
A New York Police Department spokesperson reported that a suspect for the horrendous slayings is in custody. The suspect is a male who is related to several of the victims. The ages of the victims were from one-year-old to 20-years-old.
