I recently attended a fun family summer travel event hosted by Embassy Suites Hotels and celebrity mom Brooke Burke-Charvet along with her son and daughter at Dylan's Candy Bar in NYC. Brooke Burke moderated a panel discussion with a group of expert panelists about family travel solutions. They discussed the needs and wants of children vs. parents while traveling and other issues such as bedtime, where to eat for breakfast or if you get hungry later in the day. The topic of bedtime while on vacation was one of the big discussions that took place with the kids and parents. The kids felt like they should be able to stay up late, but parents knew the kids still needed some sort of routine to keep the family happy and moving. A family traveling knows the scenario all too well. If you’re all in one room together, either the whole family stays up too late or goes to bed too early because it’s hard to fall asleep when part of the family is up making noise. This is where Embassy Suites comes in and makes your life easy. They have two rooms in their suites, which makes bedtime an easier task to handle. The kids can sleep in one room while the parents close the door and stay up. Embassy Suites also has you covered when it comes to food. Embassy Suites offers a made-to-order complimentary breakfast with your stay. Parents can enjoy fresh omelets, while the kids can pick from all sorts of yummy food from cereal, donuts, or pancakes to bacon and eggs.

Another fabulous feature of Embassy Suites is that they offer a complimentary cocktail reception hour with snacks and drinks, which is included with your stay. Parents can enjoy alcoholic beverages, as well. This is pretty awesome so far. I can't think of another hotel that offers complimentary breakfast and cocktail reception with your stay and a two-room suite all for the same price.

We’re a family of four with my eldest is five and my youngest just turned one, so we haven’t traveled anywhere just yet. This discussion was definitely interesting and useful to hear especially since I was not aware of all that Embassy Suites offered until this event. I didn’t realize all the family-friendly features the hotel offers. I love the idea of the suites having two rooms and separate TVs as well as a complimentary cocktail reception and breakfast. Keeping everyone happy on vacation is important and hard, but if you stay at a hotel that is family-friendly such as Embassy Suites it can make life a lot easier!!

Brooke Burke-Charvet also offered these wonderful family travel tips on behalf of Embassy Suites hotels. There are some great tips! For more information on Embassy Suites Hotels please visit their website at www.embassysuites.com.

  • Take the Time to Talk: A family vacation is for everyone to enjoy, and it is great to have a family conference before booking. I always like to make it a fun family event. Order take-out, clear off the dry-erase board, distribute colorful markers and let the entire family be part of the planning!
  • Own a Day: One of the best ways to make a family vacation memorable is to include an item from everyone’s wish list. Let each member of the family “Own a Day”. Maybe mom wants to spend a day in the local town, maybe the kids want to play games in the pool and perhaps dad wants a family round of golf! Whatever it is - do it together because it makes for wonderful memories. (Plus everyone will want to share the story once you’re home!)
  • Live to Learn: Every city has its own unique identity with various local attractions for families to enjoy. Do some homework in advance by networking on social media and visiting local tourism bureau websites to identify local museums, landmarks or parks – they many have pre-planned weekend activities. No matter what you choose, make the most of being out and about while discovering new adventures with the fam.
  • Pack a Goodie Bag: Everyone loves to buy a little something to remember a perfect vacation. Pack a soft suitcase or duffel bag at the bottom of your luggage, so you have room to pack souvenirs for the entire family – just don’t forget to check your airline’s baggage guidelines before you go!
  • Stay in a Sweet Suite: Being together is the best part of a vacation, but let’s face it: sometimes you need a little peace and quiet. Stay at Embassy Suites Hotels, and enjoy a two-room suite where everyone wins; mom and dad can enjoy a movie of their choice with a glass of wine, while the kids play video games in the other room.
  • Pass the Camera: Mom and dad have plenty of albums with photos of the little ones, but how many pictures do the little ones have of mom and dad? Pass the camera to the kids for a day and see what the vacation looks like from their perspective!
  • Fuel up on Breakfast: To keep the engine running, make sure the entire family enjoys a hot and healthy breakfast to make the most of day-long family-fun activities. Staying at Embassy Suites Hotels has you covered – their complimentary made-to-order breakfast is served every morning! Yeah, it’s Pretty Great.
