Call it essentially a playoff game Thursday evening for the San Diego Chargers
After an impressive 37-14 win at home last Sunday against Eli Manning and the New York Giants, the Chargers face their stiffest test of the season against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos tonight in the Mile High City.
With a win, the Chargers even their record at 7-7, keeping their faint AFC wild card playoff hopes alive. With a loss, San Diego in essence starts thinking about the 2014 season and playing out the last two home games versus Oakland (Dec. 22) and Kansas City (Dec. 29).
Meantime, the Broncos enter Thursday's game with much on the line too. Denver is looking to secure the home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. As it stands now, the Broncos (11-2) lead New England (10-3) by a game in that race.
Win or lose Thursday, the Chargers will look to finish out the season strong against its three divisional rivals.
December football and your hated rivals.... does it get any better than that?
