Drug abuse and ethics have become conflictual issues in dealing with the career of Broncos linebacker Von Miller. USA Today reported on Sept. 22, 2013, "Broncos' Von Miller tried to swap out urine sample." Miller attempted to conspire with an employee of an NFL contracted drug testing company to swap out a urine sample during this offseason.
A source with knowledge of Miller's situation said the NFL and Miller's representatives discovered the unsuccessful attempt to subvert NFL testing rules in August, at which time Miller was attempting to appeal a four-game suspension. Due to confidentiality rules with the NFL's drug testing program, the source spoke on condition of anonymity. Miller had been initially suspended after he provided a diluted urine sample after an offseason practice.
ABC News has reported on an Associated Press story, "Von Miller Tried to Manipulate Testing." Miller has been caught trying to manipulate the NFL's drug-testing system, which has led to a six-game suspension. Miller has commented in a statement, "Although my suspension doesn't result from a positive test, there is no excuse for my violations of the rules." Fans would like to see Miller clean up his act and serve as a role model for kids as any good sports player like himself is capable of.
