Broken bottle death marks surprising end to machete fight

A broken bottle death marks a surprising end to a machete fight. When pals Miguel Jiminez and an unnamed friend went out to dinner in the wee hours of Saturday morning, one of the men brought along a machete, and when the pair began to battle over the La Cabana Rodriguez restaurant bill, Jiminez chased his friend down the darkened street brandishing said weapon. That's when the April 7, 2013 incident took an even stranger turn, according to New York Daily News.

Jiminez finally caught up with his fellow diner. During the ensuing physical altercation, both the machete and the one of the men fell to the ground. Jiminez landed on the glass from a broken bottle, which slashed the flesh of his arm. Bleeding profusely, Jiminez tried to resume chasing his dining companion, but a loss of blood from his wound caused him to fall back to the ground.

By the time police arrived at the scene of the incident, it was too late to help the machete-wielding man, and his unidentified companion had escaped into the night. The injured man was transported to the Kings County Hospital where he expired in what is being called a "broken bottle death."

It's surprising that the men were fighting over the La Cabana Rodriguez restaurant bill. A quick look at the menu shows that prices there are very affordable with the exception of a few menu items containing octopus, shrimp and lobster. Of course, it's even more surprising that a man would take a machete to dinner and that a machete fight would result in a broken bottle death.
