As Kim Kardashian begins her slow, inexorable slide to quitting "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," it's probably a good idea to add more cast members. Thus, on Tuesday it was made known that we will see Brody Jenner join the show beginning with this summer's season eight.
Brody Jenner will be a regular, not recurring, cast member; he is the son of Olympic gold medal winner Bruce Jenner and beauty pageant queen Linda Thompson, the stepson of Jenner's current wife, Kris, and stepbrother of the Kardashian sisters. In addition, he is the half-brother of Kylie and Kendall, the daughter Bruce and Kris had.
To be clear, Brody Jenner, 29, has already been seen on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" before, but as a regular, he is expected to more air time in future episodes.
Jenner should be quite familiar to reality TV fans. Not only has he appeared on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," in 2005, he created, executive produced and starred in the reality show "The Princes of Malibu" alongside his brother Brandon. He he also appeared in MTV's reality show "The Hills." In 2009, Jenner hosted and again executive produced a reality show "Bromance," in which young men competed to become part of his entourage.
A Brody Jenner rep said that he "is joining the show but may not be in every episode. It depends on the storyline," which makes sense. Jenner was seen shooting scenes with his pregnant stepsister Kim Kardashian, 32, at Barney's in Beverly Hills on Feb. 21, but as he has appeared on the show before, it was not necessarily seen as a sign he was becoming a regular cast member.
Brody Jenner isn't really taking Kim's place. Although she said earlier she might leave the show after season nine, she later confirmed a commitment through season 10. She has already said, though, that Kimye will probably not appear on the series.
Season eight of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" premieres on E! in July.
