Brockport DPW Does a Great Job Clearing Snow

The Brockport Department of Public Works does a great job keeping the streets of the village clear of snow. Nobody around here does it better.

It has snowed in Brockport every day for more than a week, but there is no snow on the streets. Even the side streets have been cleared right down to bare pavement, and all the sidewalks have been plowed too.

That’s the way it should be.

But that isn’t the case everywhere in the Rochester area.

Yesterday afternoon, long after it had stopped snowing, I had to drive on some of the side streets in Gates, and they were an absolute mess.

Route 31 was clear, and Long Pond Road was clear. But the side streets that connect the two were covered with a couple of inches of beaten down snow.

There was so much snow on the streets that there were ruts in the snow from the cars that had driven down the streets earlier.

People were spinning their wheels as they pulled out of their driveways, and sliding along as they drove down the street. Passing a car coming the other way was quite an adventure.

Brockport residents are spoiled. That kind of thing rarely happens in Brockport.

Give credit where credit is due, The Brockport DPW gets the job done.
