Brock Lesnar to wrestle Money in the Bank ladder match winner at SummerSlam?

According to a June 19 report from Cageside Seats, WWE superstar Brock Lesnar is being looked at for a wrestling match against the winner of the Money in the Bank ladder match for the WWE Heavyweight Championship, which goes down later this month in Boston. With Daniel Bryan still recovering from neck surgery, Lesnar will likely face the winner of the Money in the Bank ladder match at the SummerSlam special event in August.

The WWE was originally considering booking Lesnar to battle Bryan for the heavyweight championship at SummerSlam, but the "Yes! Movement" founder is not expected to be ready in time for the bout. Bryan may not be cleared to compete until September, which means he probably won't appear in a match until the WWE Night of Champions pay-per-view event. That said, the WWE is going to need to get creative with its bookings. Lesnar vs. Bryan for SummerSlam seems less likely by the day, as the event gets closer.

Here's how the rest of the year might shape up for the WWE Heavyweight Championship: Sheamus, John Cena, Randy Orton, Alberto Del Rio, Cesaro, Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt will be competing for the belt at Money in the Bank, later this month in Boston. Whoever wins will be the new heavyweight titleholder, replacing Bryan as WWE World Champion.

After that, Lesnar will likely challenge the winner at SummerSlam, on Aug. 18 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. In all likelihood, it'll be Lesnar against either Cena or Reigns. Cena is a former WWE champion who is always in the title picture, while Reigns recently became a singles star following the breakup of The Shield. The WWE has been wanting to give Reigns a push as a superstar babyface, so scripting him to win at Money in the Bank might be a power move that could pay dividends for years to come.

Cesaro is the dark horse in the Money in the Bank ladder match, as the WWE would love nothing more than to put him over as a main card star. If he wins at Money in the Bank, and then battles Lesnar at SummerSlam, he would instantly become one of the WWE's top babyfaces.

As for Lesnar, he's been mostly absent from action since defeating The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 30. Lesnar is essentially a part-time competitor at this point, generally only competing during Wrestlemania season and at sporadic events sprinkled throughout the year. Time will tell how the situation plays out, and WWE Universe will obviously be keeping a close eye on it.
