BroadwayGlobal Shares The 37th Annual Carbonell Award Nominees And Winners (Photos)

USA - BroadwayGlobal shares The 37th Annual Carbonell Award nominees and winners. What is so exciting about this years Carbonell Award winners? BroadwayGlobal shares the importance of Florida's Carbonell Awards. A Carbonell Award is at the top of the awards list, just under a Broadway Tony Award or a Chicago Jeff Award.

"The 37th Annual Carbonell Awards prove once again that Florida is the top "fun in the sun arts destination, our only tropical Broadway paradise on the globe". The winners and nominees bring Broadway stars to Florida with hopes to capture a Carbonell Award nomination or win. Florida theatre audiences get a chance to see the best local professionals working on stage with top Broadway stars so everyone wins!" BroadwayGlobal.

We, the Florida arts community have to know the value of the arts in the state of Florida. Because we live in a sunny tropical paradise, Broadway stars want to work at top regional award winning theatres for a chance to be honored, with one of the top accolades in live theatre, next to a Tony Award or the Chicago Jeff Award.

Boca Raton Thetare Guild (BRTG) brought in top professionals like Krisha Marcano ("The Color Purple") to star in the Florida production of "Chicago" as well as hired "America's Top Choreographer Ron Hutchins (Cirque, University of Miami)" to share "Chicago" with local theatre audiences. Those BRTG artistic choices changed their brand, from a community theatre to professional. Now it puts them in the same level of top regional theatres like Actors Playhouse and Maltz Jupiter Theatre. Will they make the Carbonell Award top musicals next season? Only time will tell. But the expense and choice from the artistic leaders to bring in top choreographers and Broadway stars will keep Florida on the map for "fun in the sun arts destination, and the only Broadway tropical paradise on the globe".

The breaking news of closed Caldwell Theatre's new ten million dollar venue Count de Hoernle Theatre being revived by Marilynn Wick, owner of the famed Costume World with planned $300,000 to $1 million extensive renovations, even brings hope to the closed iconic Coconut Grove Playhouse.

Marilynn is the owner of the iconic Dodger Costumes that includes origional Broadway collections. The Broadway, Film, TV costume collection now in her Pompano Museum will be relocated to the newly named, Wick Theatre. The Wick Theatre will be under Artistic Director Douglas C. Evans guidience. Douglas is a former CEO of Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment.

This iconic Broadway collection of costumes, as well as all the regional theatres bringing Broadway stars to Florida local stages brings value to the arts. The globe now see Florida as a sunny affordable tropical Broadway paradise. Florida is one of the top states to produce live theatre, thanks to the arts community that are building the future for the next generation of artists and theatre patrons.

This year Actors Playhouse production of "In The Heights" brought many Broadway stars in to their revival and included the original Broadway choreography. The hope for the future is that Floridians can train and bring back Broadway stars like Janet Dacal, who stepped in last minute at Actors Playhouse saving the day for "In The Heights". Dacal also starred in "The Last Five Years". The fact that a regional theatre can replace a Broadway actress, with another Broadway actress, who starred in the original Broadway production, in an emergency are strengths for the future of Florida's arts. Carbonell Award judges remember this when voting next year!

Matlz Jupiter Theatre was the leader for bringing in stars. Now many Florida theatres see the importance and value including Broadway talent alongside our local stars. Kate Shindle ("Wonderland") in Maltz Jupiter's "Cabaret" gave an amazing performance. If the judges were being picky on why Kate may not have won, "Cabaret" was lifted from the Broadway revival with same staging, where Maltz Jupiter 's "The Music Man" was original with the choreography topping even the Broadway revival. Congrats to Shea Sullivan for the best choreography that any production of "The Music Man" has ever seen!

"All of the nominees are winners because you are the best of the best. Your performances give reasons for local live theatre lovers and tourist around the globe to come to Florida. Where else can arts lovers enjoy a tropical paradise and some of the best live Broadway theatre on the globe. Let us all continue to keep Florida on the map for the only sunny Broadway destination."
