"Ghostlight" had sold-out and extended runs Off-Broadway at Signature Theatre in 2011 as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Now the Ziegfeld Follies showgirl story, with beautiful music directed by the creators Martin and Realbuto bring it back to the stage December 2013. BroadwayGlobal shares award winning buzz all around this very compelling, mysterious new work, and how you might be able to witness it first hand, by a special raffle for anyone who donates to the "Ghostlight" IndieGoGo campaign.
The award winning buzz starts with Robert Cuccioli, who received Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award for playing the title roles in the original cast of Broadway’s "Jekyll and Hyde" and let us not forget his Tony Award nomination for "Jekyll and Hyde". Robert Cuccioi brings his award winning performance skills to "Ghostlight" December 2013 at The New 42nd Street Studios in NYC.
Robert Cuccioli has appeared on Broadway as Javert in "Les Miserables" and is currently starring as Dr. Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin in "Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark". His acclaimed solo CD, The Look of Love, was released in 2012. He also starred Off-Broadway in "Jaques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris" and as Chief Franklin on CBS’s “Guiding Light”. His wonderful credits with announcements of new cast members of "Ghostlight" are all bringing attention to this new musical.
"Ghostlight" also stars Kimberly Faye Greenberg ("Danny and Sylvia") who you all know as the first and only actress in New York City history to have performed two leading roles, in two legit Off-Broadway musicals, at the same time. Kimberly received critical acclaim for playing Fanny Brice in "One Night With Fanny Brice" where she was also nominated 2011 Patrick Lee ITBA Award for Best Solo Performance.
Greenberg has starred in Actor’s Fund benefits of "Miracle on 34th Street" and "Mr. President". Her television credits include “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”, “Charmed”, and “ER”. "Ghostlight" offers book, music and lyrics by Matthew Martin and Tim Realbuto and tells the true story of a Ziegfeld Follies showgirl, and silent film star Olive Thomas. Her rise to fame in the Follies alongside Fanny Brice, an affair with a married Ziegfeld, and her Hollywood marriage to movie star Jack Pickford are just some highlights of this breathtaking musical. Ultimately Olive Thomas tragic downfalls led her to a mysterious death at just the age 25, while in Paris. Her ghost may have left a "Ghostlight" on, at least for the newest musical itself, that has award winning buzz around it.
Casting "Ghostlight" ensemble and the other female leads, including the central role of Olive Thomas, will be announced shortly. BroadwayGlobal shares the special "Ghostlight" reading and "Ghostlight" IndieGoGo campaign to show all theatre lovers that artists must be clever to create funding for new works. "The production A team, award winning cast and clever new musical "Ghostlight" are all what NYC and Broadway is about." Theatre Chat.
