Patti LuPone, two-time Tony award winner and international star of musical theater, will be performing for one night only on Saturday, March 22, 2014, 8 p.m., at the Segerstrom Performing Arts Center, Costa Mesa, CA. This one night only perforamance, will be a rare opportunity to see LuPone perform in her award wining concert, “Far Away Places."
The New York Times has said: “Far Away Places certifies Ms. LuPone’s place in the lineage of quirky international chanteuses like Lotte Lenya, Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf, who, like LuPone, conquered show business with forceful, outsize personalities while playing by their own musical rules”.
"Far Away Places", conceived and directed by Scott Wittman with musical direction and arrangements by Joseph Thalken, features LuPone's brilliant vocal personality as she performs in different musical styles and genres. LuPone will perform music from Kurt Weill, Edith Piaff, Willie Nelson, Sondheim, Porter and more, while backed by a five-piece ensemble.
Patti Lupone’s extraordinary musical career includes having created many of Broadway's most memorable leading ladies. With a powerful, rich, alto voice and intense acting, LuPone not only sings musical theater with distinction, but has also performed in opera just a few seasons ago here in Los Angeles, in the acclaimed LA Opera's production of Kurt Weil's opera, “City of Mahogony.”
Tickets for Patti LuPone’s concert start at $49, and are available online at www. SCFTA.org, at the Box office at 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa, or (714) 556-2787.
