Broadway musicals come to Orlando: 2012-2013 season announced with stars galore

You won't have to go to New York to see some fantastic Broadway musicals.  Fairwinds Broadway Across America has just announced their 2012-2013 six show season and it's hot, hot, hot. 

The season starts October 2-7 with one of the best love stories ever told Disney's Beauty and The Beast.  Based on the animated film, the classical musical love story is filled with unforgettable characters, lavish sets and costumes, and dazzling production numbers including “Be Our Guest” and the beloved title song.

MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is inspired by the electrifying true story of the famed recording session that brought together rock ‘n’ roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time. On December 4, 1956, these four young musicians were gathered together by Sam Phillips, the “Father of Rock ’n’ Roll” at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions of all time. Featuring timeless hits including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “That’s All Right,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “I Walk the Line,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Matchbox,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Hound Dog” and more. Inspired by actual events, MEMPHIS is about a white radio DJ who wants to change the world and a black club singer who is ready for her big break. Filled with laughter, soaring emotion and roof-raising rock 'n' roll, MEMPHIS features a Tony-winning book by Joe DiPietro (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change) and a Tony-winning original score with music by Bon Jovi founding member David Bryan.  Winner of four 2010 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, MEMPHIS will rock the Orlando airwaves May 14 – 19, 2013.

Prices for the six-show season range from $170 - $600, depending on performance time, day of week and seating location selected.  Tickets to individual shows in the 2012 – 2013 Season are not available for purchase at this time.  All shows will be performed at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre.  Current season ticket holders should expect their renewal packets to arrive via USPS no later than March 1.
