Broadway Global predicts shocking Tony Awards nominations

Today Broadway Global predicts the Tony Awards nominations by highlighting the "Best Broadway Musicals" this season. Broadway Global celebrates The Third Annual 2014 Broadway Global Producer of the Year by sharing the breaking sneak peak review links, and a last call for nominations. On April 29, 2014 The Tony Awards will announce the nominations, but only one can win the Tony Award for Best Musical. This year we have more musicals in the mix, then we have had in decades. Some of you may remember one nomination, or just a few new musicals in the mix to win the Tony Award for Best Musical in past years. This year's box office ticket sales are proof that Broadway is alive and well. With so many hit musicals in one season, do you think five musicals should be included for "Best Musical" in this years Tony Awards nominations?

With about 40 Broadway theatres hosting plays and musicals, "Broadway Global's Best Musical Prediction List" consist of twelve new musicals produced this season. This years Tony Awards nominations could be the most difficult nominations of the century. The Broadway Global Tony Awards Prediction List proves just how difficult it can be to get new works produced on Broadway today. As you can see many of these "New Musicals" come from movie box office hits.

#1 Bullets Over Broadway. At the top of the list for Best Musical is Bullets Over Broadway. It could win for Susan Stroman's Best Direction and Best Choreography, Best Actor Zach Braff, and Best Book to date by Woody Allen. We focus on Best Musical, Best Choreography, Best Score, Best Actor and Actress in a Musical, but these are just a few of the Tony Awards that will honor this years amazing Broadway talents. #2 After Midnight is a close second. Warren Carlyle is nose to nose, or toe to toe for Best Choreography. After Midnight should win Best Orchestrations hands down. Fantasia was the highlight for vocals this Broadway season in this cotton club musical that comes to life, thanks to City Center's Encores Artistic Director Jack Viertel. After Midnight is a Broadway Global top pick and Fatasia is coming back! #3 The Bridges of Madison County Best Direction Barlett Sher, Best Actor Steve Pasquale and Best Actress Kelli O'Hara, Best Musical Score with Music and Lyrics by Jason Robert Brown and Best Book by Marsha Norman. #4 Rocky with the biggest finale in the history of Broadway the musical is in third place. The leads Andy Karl and Margo Seibert will be nominated for Best Actor and Actress, but it's the sets, even through preview drama by Chris Barreca that will win the Tony Award. Sound Design by Peter Hylenski is award worthy. Sylvester Stallone you "coulda been a contender". Much success to a new musical bringing families of all ages back to Broadway. Terence Archie wins for sexiest Broadway star of the season. With the Rocky cast recording being released May 27, 2014 under UMe Label, Grammy winner Elliot Scheiner should be smiling all the way to the bank.

#5 If/Then yes Adeem AKA Idina Menzel will be nominated for Best Actress, and the presenter might even pronounce her name right, now that Idina has 497K twitter followers @idinamenzel. Even her movie star husband Taye Diggs only has 259K twitter followers, @TayeDiggs. Maybe the so called Idina and Taye break up was just clever marketing. Anthony Rapp is sure to be nominated for Best Actor and Tom Kit's Music will be nominated for Best Score. The Broadway cast recording is set to be released in June 2014 by Masterworks Broadway.

#6 A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder has the best chance for Best Actor in a Musical with Jefferson Mays. Best Direction by Darko Tresnjak and Best Book by Robert L. Freedman. It will be nominated for original score thanks to Music and Lyrics by Steve Lutvak. Please note Barbara Freitag, Dennis Grimaldi, Stewart F. Lane, Jhett Tolentino are 2014 Broadway Global Producer of the Year nominee. The Broadway cast recording is set to be released in April 2014 by Ghostlight Records.

#7 A Night With Janis Joplin will be nominated for Best Actress Mary Bridget Davies. The Broadway cast recording of A Night With Janis Joplin is set to be released January 17, 2014 (digitally) and February 11, 2014 in stores under Broadway Records.

#8 Soul Doctor will be nominated for Best Actor. Eric Anderson played the controversial Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, AKA "Soul Doctor" and this musical should also be nominated for Best Choreography by Benoit-Swan Pouffer.

#9 Aladdin will be nominated for Best Direction by Casey Nicholaw, Best Actor Adam Jacobs and Best Musical Score with Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, with additional lyrics by Chad Beguelin. President of Disney Theatrical Group, Thomas Schumacher is a 2014 Broadway Global Producer of the Year nominee. The Aladdin Broadway cast recording is set to be released in May 2014 by Disney Records, (Disney it's time to update that company name from records to a present recording method).

#10 Beautiful will be nominated for Best Actress Jessie Mueller, Best Book Douglas McGrath, Best Score Carole King, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. Please note Barbara Freitag is a 2014 Broadway Global Producer of the Year nominee. Also Broadway Global is happy to see Lawrence S. Toppall lised as one of the producers of Beautiful. Lawrence is owner of Mazel Musicals, Inc., the company that has presented and produced more than 100 productions for the audiences of south Florida. Broadway credits include The Gathering, the Tony-nominated Say Goodnight Gracie starring Frank Gorshin, Burn the Floor and Looped. The Broadway cast recording is set to be released in spring of 2014 by Ghostlight Records.

#11 Big Fish got lost in the big Broadway pond. Susan Stroman's showstopping choreography in the opening number is unforgettable but her work in Bullets Over Broadway will over shine the work in Big Fish. Norbert Leo Butz, Kate Baldwin, Bobby Steggert and a very talented cast have great chances for nominations. The Broadway cast recording is set to be released in February 17, 2014 (digitally) and February 11, 2014 in- stores under Ghostlight Records.

#12 First Date may have the least nominations, but Kristoffer Cusick performance will be remembered for his outstanding work this season. It's time for Kristoffer Cusick's talents to be spotlighted as a Broadway leading man. The Broadway cast recording was released in September 2013.
