Broadway and musical fanatics are getting excited and prepared for the 2013 season of shows at the Civic Center Music Hall in downtown Oklahoma City. Celebrity Attractions unveiled their upcoming performances coming to the Civic Center this year. Officials say the show “Wicked” is coming back by popular demand, along with “Chicago,” “Sister Act” and Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas.” Wicked will be here in September but tickets will not be available for sale until later this year.
Also coming to the Civic Center Music Hall this year is “West Side Story”, also presented by Celebrity Attractions. More than fifty years ago one musical changed theater forever. Now it's back, and mesmerizing audiences once again. From the first note to the final breath, WEST SIDE STORY soars as the greatest love story of all time and remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever. The new Broadway cast album of WEST SIDE STORY won the 2010 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. The Bernstein and Sondheim score is considered to be one of Broadway's finest and features such classics of the American musical theatre as "Something's Coming," "Tonight," "America," "I Feel Pretty" and "Somewhere." The performances will be April 23rd-28th 2013.
Presented by Madstone Productions, for one night only, singing sensation Celtic Woman will brings their latest show to Oklahoma City! Under the musical direction of Emmy-nominated music producer, David Downes, this spell-binding musical experience features Celtic Woman performing classic Irish tunes, such as “The Water Is Wide,” “Green Grow the Rushes,” and “The Parting Glass.” Plus timeless pop anthems such as “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “Sailing” as well as inspirational songs including “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “Ave Maria,” all with the signature Celtic Woman sound. “The King And I” is also making its way to the Civic Center this year. Presented by Lyric Theatre, known for its spectacular talents and productions, THE KING AND I has been hailed as one of the greatest musicals of all time! It is is a delight for the whole family with beloved songs like “Shall We Dance” and “Getting to Know You”. See Anna and the King of Siam struggle towards mutual respect in this unique love story. The performance dates are July 9th-13th, 2013.
Also presented by Lyric Theatre is Disney’s epic, high-flying adventure “TARZAN”. Based on Disney’s epic animated musical adventure, Lyric presents TARZAN in an original production featuring heart-pumping music by rock legend Phil Collins. You’ll be wowed by high-flying tricks and hits like “You’ll Be in My Heart,” “Son of Man” and “Two Worlds.” Come see the excitement of Tarzan on June 25th-29th, 2013
