Earlier tonight, The Broadcast Film Critics Association announced the winners of their annual awards for 2012, naming Ben Affleck's "Argo" as the best film of the year. The film also received Best Director for Affleck.
The awards were very spread out with just about every top contender receiving at least one award. There weren't any particular surprises with the top categories, but there were a number of questionable choices elsewhere, though you'd mostly have to look in their minor categories to find them. The only really major surprise in a semi-major category came in Best Acting Ensemble where "Silver Linings Playbook" somehow managed to beat out the superior casts of "Les Misérables" and "Lincoln." Hopefully when it's left to the Screen Actors Guild it will be much different.
