Brittany Murphy had a habit of prescription drug use -- so much so that she apparently had to use an alias to do much of the purchasing. According to a new report by TMZ, the late movie star and TV voice actor purchased multiple doses of drugs under the moniker of Lola Manilow Murphy for almost two years at Eddie's Pharmacy in Los Angeles -- she was eventually cut off because of concerns over a potential overdose (though it's to tough to see how that name along didn't ring any bells).
As a matter of fact, Murphy received at least 200 pills of Vicodin and anti-anxiety medication every month between January 2008 and August 2009. There were some months where she even received 400.
As for who prescribed the multiple doses of drugs, the name on the label was Dr. Richard Kroop. Kroop received a visit from investigators on Friday, though it is currently unknown as to if the doctor will be charged with anything based on this case.
Brittany Murphy passed away on December 20, and prescription drug use played a major role in her death according to toxicology reports.

I think it's a sad world we live in when we have technology to go to the moon but we can't create a better rx tracking mechanism to prevent these deaths. I am sad for her that so many loved her yet they did nothing to help her. Shame on them.
Murphy was an addict, plain and simple. Her Doctors, her mother and husband were enablers, also plain and simple.
She was great and would've gone on to more serious roles and a higher profile. Prescription drugs are the New Cocaine, the New Crack, and the New Problem.
It's going to have to take a politician's kid overdosing for there to be any progress made in preventing these awful disasters.
Was there once. Totally agree, there must be, and will be a better tracking system So far only 6 States do it. But if each Pharmacy was required to report ALL classified medications by Doctors name, patients name, etc., it would go a great deal to stop abuse on all ends.
Why people resort to saying something and stating it to be a "plain and simple" explanation, I will never understand. It is never plain and simple. Everyone is a product of their upbringing and without a strong support network, this could be any one of us. Please have a solution rather than a simple statement casting blame.
"Prescription drugs are the New Cocaine, the New Crack, and the New Problem."
Nothing new about this problem. And crack and powder cocaine haven't gone anywhere.
