Howard Stern said he couldn't listen to more than a few seconds of the Brittany Murphy 911 call released by authorities last week.
The call, placed by Brittany Murphy's mother after finding her daughter unconscious and not breathing, features audio of a frantic mother trying to revive the young actress and crying: "Brittany come back to us!"
"I couldn't listen to that for more than three seconds," said Howard Stern. "I couldn't handle that. It's too private."
The Brittany Murphy 911 call discussion emerged after Robin Quivers played a clip from the 911 placed by those who discovered the body of Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson during news segment of the Howard Stern Show
"I'm fascinated," said Howard Stern. "But I don't understand why they release them."
Howard Stern Show fans, many of whom have turned exploiting tragedies like wildfires and plane crashes for prank phone calls into an art form, are wondering how Howard Stern will react when the 911 call associated with Howard Stern Show co-host Artie Lange is inevitably released. Howard Stern has urged his listeners to show respect and compassion for Artie Lange and his family.
"It's not something to be discussed and dissected," said Howard Stern of Artie Lange's recent, violent suicide attempt.
