NHRA Drag Racing Top Fuel driver Brittany Force will admit that winning sometimes comes down to a little luck. NHRA's Top Fuel Traxxas Nitro Shootout, a big money specialty race held in conjunction with the 60th Annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals event this Labor Day Weekend, is comprised of the event winners from the past seven races, giving top seed to the points leader entering Indy. The eighth position in each category is selected first by a fan vote, which determines the percentage of lottery ball chances of each driver, selected at Monument Circle yesterday, in downtown Indianapolis.
Force got some luck when her blue ping pong ball popped to the top of the air mix lottery machine and secured the final spot in the Top Fuel Traxxas Nitro Shootout.
“This is just awesome. I am so excited. This will be our second year in the Traxxas Shootout and I have to thank my fans and the support I got from my sponsors like Castrol, Ford, Auto Club, Mac Tools, and BrandSource,” said Fore.
Force had a 65% chance of winning the last spot thanks to huge fan support through online voting leading up to Wednesday. The three-time event runner-up will face off against the No. 1 qualifier Doug Kalitta.
The Top Fuel Traxxas Shootout will be run during the Saturday portion of qualifying during this weekend's U.S. Nationals. Force’s sister Courtney Force (Topeka winner, seeded #6) will be competing in the Funny Car portion of the Traxxas Nitro Shootout along with Patron Funny Car driver Alexis DeJoria (Las Vegas winner, seeded #5), which will be contested on Sunday. The winner of each Traxxas Shootout will race away with $100,000 and a custom Traxxas, the Fastest Name in Radio Control, trophy.
