Britney Spears said still heading to Las Vegas despite late night slam (Video)

Britney Spears is still said to be heading to Las Vegas to headline a show, even though musician Dave Grohl of the “Foo Fighters” announced otherwise when he hosted the Chelsea Lately show the other night. Britney has been in talks with several casinos to do a residency for a while now, and today the Daily Mail is saying the deal is still going forward, but not for the $100 million that had been reported in the past. Sources say Spears, 31, is said to be close to signing a deal with Planet Hollywood, though she’s also rumored to be in talks with the Caesar’s group. But when Grohl filled in for Chelsea Handler Monday night, he announced Britney was passed over for a hypnotist act, while also making some other unflattering remarks about the pop princess.

Britney's longtime manager Larry Rudolph told “Extra” that a Vegas show is close to being finalized, saying, “We are in deep negotiations and I'd be shocked if it didn't happen. Hoping to have a deal done very soon”.

But whatever deal is made, it won’t be along the lines of Celine Dion or Elton John. Those close to Britney, as well as fans, are concerned she may not be able to handle such a schedule. “Nobody expects this to be a five-night-a week residency, it wouldn't be right for Britney right now”, a source said.

On Monday night’s Chelsea Lately show though, Dave Grohl took a swipe at Spears joking, “She just kinda seems dead inside, like there's nothing behind her eyes…Like there's nothing in her boobs anymore!”, according to Rolling Stone. Click here to watch the clip from the show.

This deal would be a bit of good news for Britney Spears, who recently split from fiancé Jason Trawick, as well as losing her lucrative judging spot on “The X Factor”.

Former "Nirvana" drummer Grohl, 44, has taken over hosting duties this week on the E! channel late night program, for a series of shows highlighting Grammy week.
