Britney Spears and Jason Trawick are no longer engaged. On Jan. 12 E! News reported, Spears returned her $90,000 engagement ring to now ex-finacé Jason.
Spears announced the breakeup on Jan. 11 and said,
"Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends."
Trawick proposed on Dec. 4 of last year during his 40th birthday celebration in Las Vegas. The proposal came with the gorgeous 3.5 carat Neil Lane ring.
Trawick hadn't asked Spears to return the ring, but she was required to return it under California state law since she broke off the engagement. Even still, she probably felt it was the right thing to do.
The pop singing sensation,31, and her former agent dated for 19 months before becoming engaged. They were engaged just over a year before the break.
What made Spears call off the engagement? As reported on Jan. 12 by TMZ, the couple called things off mainly because Spears wanted more children and Trawick didn't. Apparently it caused frequent arguments that ultimately resulted in the couple calling it quits.
This would have been Spears third marriage. She married childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander in 2004. The marriage was annulled after 55 hours. Only seven months later, she married Kevin Federline. Before divorcing in 2007, the couple had two sons together, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
