Britney Spears will not return as a judge on the next season of X Factor, according to TMZ. A source close to the star says that Spears loves the show but has decided to focus on her music career. ‘Britney loves Simon, and likes Demi Lovato but her thing is music’, the source added.
The 31-year-old signed a staggering $15 million contract for one season on the show. There was speculation after the show’s finale that the producers were disappointed Spears lack of energy and that the ‘Hold It Against Me’ singer would be fired. A show insider told Us Weekly that Simon Cowell ‘wanted crazy Britney but he got boring Britney'.
Spears may not have been the most entertaining of the judges – although her much talked about facial expressions were comical - but she’s clearly got an eye for talent. The starlet placed the highest number of contestants in the final 12 on the show, one was runner-up.
Earlier this week, Fox executive, Kevin Reilly, said about Spears’ time on the show: ‘I thought it went very, very well … I think Britney did a really good job… She tucked in really nicely on the bench. For next year, I do not know.’
Spears is working on her eighth studio album with mega hitmaker will.i.am and contemplating going on tour.
