This may be the reason that Britney Spears reportedly quit "X Factor" (before she could get fired?). A new report on Friday said that Spears is in negotiations to headline a Celine Dion-style show in Las Vegas.
Sources say that Britney Spears and her team are talking about establishing Las Vegas residency for the singer, and are also negotiating to one of the hotels to do a "big, nightly show."
The earlier report said that Spears was quitting "X Factor" because she wanted to focus on her music. She is currently working on her 8th album, and it was also rumored earlier that she was considering a tour to take place after the album was finished.
The sources added that there is "a lot of interest" in Spears' camp over her moving to Las Vegas -- although we'd wonder why a residency move would create excitement. Unless, of course, she headlines a show, and naturally, there is also a lot of interest in her camp in terms of her headlining a show.
Celine Dion made nearly $100 million annually for her show, which ran from 2003 to 2007. The sources think Spears could earn even more than Dion.
All this is interesting in light of the stories that said that "X Factor" was going to axe her, as well as co-host Demi Lovato. Sources then said that the reason was that Simon Cowell had hope for -- and perhaps expected -- to get the "crazy" Britney, when instead he got the "too quiet" Britney.
