Pop star Britney Spears, who's making headlines for her super-fit physique, has been working out up to six hours daily and consuming 1,500 calorie a day to prepare for her upcoming North American tour.
"I'm pumped up!" Spears told People May 19, 2011."We've been working hard, and the costumes are coming next week.
"This is the exciting part, when all the pieces – the masterpiece – come together."
90-Minute Workouts Followed By 5 Hours of Dancing
For the past six weeks, Britney, 29, has been working out for 90 minutes a day, followed by five hours of dance rehearsals ahead of her Femme Fatale summer tour, which kicks off June 16, 2011 in Sacramento, Calif.
Spears has been working with a trainer, who makes sure the mother of two eats plenty of healthy fare, such as baked fish, broccoli and celery with almond butter.
Britneys follows the regimen for six days and indulges on Sundays, which is her "cheat day."
From Breakdown to Breakthrough
Amazingly, it was less than two years ago that Spears was put on a suicide watch and forcibly hospitalized following a nervous breakdown.
Between 2006 and 2008, the pop princess had several highly publicized nervous breakdowns that required hospitalization for what appeared to be drug abuse, stress, depression, bipolar disorder and other issues.
Britney is now calmer and more settled, and happily dating her agent-boyfriend, Jason Trawick, 39.
"We just like to watch movies," she says. "We work out a lot. We love to work out. We do stuff together like that. We take walks."
