Britney Spears showed off her chiseled abs and dramatic weight loss ahead of her upcoming "Piece of Me" live shows in Las Vegas.
Spears shared a photo of her slimmed-down physique on Instagram Aug. 6, writing in the caption, "Amazing, amazing shoot with @jefflipsky today! Been working hard this summer! So ready to bring it for the next round of #PieceOfMe shows next week."
Britney's upcoming performances are part of her two-year Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood, which began in December 2013 and extends through February 2015.
Spears, who previously revealed she follows a low-carb diet, said she dramatically amped up her workout routine to prepare for the Vegas residency. The grueling 96-show revue requires lots of stamina.
Cardio Exercise and Yoga Workouts
In addition to fat-burning cardio exercise, Spears does 90-minute yoga sessions twice a week with her trainer and does lots of stretching and strength-training. Britney also boxes and does Tae Bo to mix things up.
"I'm doing 90 minutes of yoga twice a week in addition to lots of cardio — hour-long sessions three times a week with my trainer, Tony Martinez," she told Shape.
Britney previously credited a low carb Nutrisystem diet for her weight loss, having a shake for breakfast and lunch followed by a dinner of protein and vegetables. Britney confessed that sticking to a diet isn't easy because she loves high-carb, high-calorie, sugary foods.
“Dieting is tough, because my specialties are spaghetti, brownies and chocolate chip cookies," she said. “I try not to make those too often or I’ll eat the whole bowl of dough.”
Was Put on Suicide Watch in 2008
Britney is healthier and happier than ever, but it was just six years ago that the pop princess was placed on suicide watch. Between 2006 and 2008, Britney suffered several highly publicized emotional breakdowns that required hospitalization for drug abuse, depression and bipolar disorder.
Fortunately, all that drama is in past, as Spears focuses on her happy home life with her sons, Sean and Jayden.
Other celebrities who have gotten in top shape on a low-carb diet include Megan Fox, who credits a low carb, dairy-free, sugar-free Paleo diet for her stunning baby weight loss. Amazingly, Fox gave up alcohol, smoking and carbs in one fell swoop as part of her health overhaul. She now looks fitter than ever.
Similarly, Kristin Cavallari lost 20 pounds just two months after giving birth to her second child by following a low-carb, sugar-free, Paleo diet that featured grass-fed beef, bison and plenty of coconut oil.
