Hot on the heels of complete sellout shows for “Britney: Piece of Me,” Britney Spears announced on Monday (May 12) that she will extend her Las Vegas residency until February 2015. She was originally scheduled for “Piece of Me” until May 17 but now fans will have more chances to see her live.
“Love performing for y'all at @phvegas! So much fun every night :) Hope I see your faces at the next round of shows!!” Spears wrote on Twitter about the news.
Spears kicked off “Britney: Piece of Me” at Planet Hollywood's The AXIS theater in Las Vegas back in December and the first two legs have been complete sellouts. The 90-minute show sees Spears revisiting her biggest hits and memorable tracks from 15 year career. She performs songs like “...Baby One More Time” and “Oops!... I Did it Again” to her recent singles “Till the World Ends” and “Hold it Against Me.” Spears was expected to only do 50 shows for the residency so an announcement about more shows was expected to come. Instead of listing enough shows to complete the 50, though, she upped the totally number to 78, booking shows until February 2015.
Tickets for the upcoming shows from Aug.15, 2014 to Feb. 28, 2015 will go on sale to the general public this Friday, May 16. Fans who thought they would miss Britney in Las Vegas for “Britney: Piece of Me” now have many opportunities to see her in action.
Spears' eighth studio album “Britney Jean” was released in December of last year and it peaked at no. 4 on Billboard's albums chart. She performs two singles from that record in “Britney: Piece of Me,” the aggressive dance track “Work B**ch” and the heartbreaking ballad “Perfume.” Britney also briefly sang the track “Alien” for a few shows during the second leg.
