Britney Spears bids adieu to 'X Factor', ends speculation she was getting canned (Video)

Britney Spears ended months of speculation that she was going to get the ax from Simon Cowell by announcing she will not return as a judge on “The X Factor” next season. Sources say Britney wants to focus on her music, and may even tour, according to the N.Y. Daily News today. Spears was paid $15 million to be a judge last season, which saw her say “amazing” an amazing number of times. Many are still left wondering whether she quit by her won choice, or if she bowed out of the show because she was going to be fired.

Britney Spears is in the studio working on her eighth album. She’s collaborating with the likes of Will.I.am and producer Hit-Boy. According to sources at TMZ, “Britney loves Simon, she likes Demi Lovato but her thing is music”. Snap!

It’s being rumored that after completing the album, Spears plans to tour again. Her exit from “X Factor” has tongues wagging as to what actually transpired behind the scenes.

Some sources say Britney never strayed too far from her crazy persona backstage, but failed to deliver it on camera. “She shows up late, she wanders around aimlessly, and she is in her own world. She wasn't ready for this responsibility”, an insider said.

Another problem was the failure in the ratings department. The show’s Dec. 20 second season finale was drew only 9.6 million viewers, which was down 18 percent from the first season finale.

But no one should shed a tear for Brit, as ABC News previously reported that the pop-princess narrowly topped Taylor Swift in being named music’s top female earner for 2012, with $58 million.

When Britney Spears was first announced to be joining “X Factor”, one observer noted that Britney would need to be either awesome or a train wreck to have an impact on the ratings. Most critics agree she was neither.
