To commemorate the fourth quarter of the year which is usually littered with big album and single releases for the holiday season, Billboard spoke with RCA executives Tom Corson and Peter Edge. In talking about the label, Britney Spears' new album "Britney Jean" was also mentioned in the interview. Edge said this about the record:
We’re feeling really good about the Britney album. We’re not quite sure how the credits are gonna be, but Will.i.am’s really the main creative on the album but he won’t be the only one. He has a lot of great songs. [...] I think people are not only gonna be surprised but also see another side of Britney. There’s a lot more personal content on this album than we’ve seen from her in the past.
In complimenting "Britney Jean," Edge also mentioned a possible follow up to the album's lead single "Work B**ch." The label might go with the Sia-penned ballad "Perfume" as Spears' next release.
"There’s a song we feel fairly strong will be the second single called 'Perfume," he told Billboard. "It was written by Sia and could be a big career song. It’s more of a downtempo song, but people are amazed at the quality of her vocals on it. She sings it beautifully and it has a real sincerity to it."
Along with "Work B**ch" and "Perfume," "Alien" was another song recently confirmed on Spears' new album. She worked on that track with Madonna "Ray of Light" producer William Orbit. Her "Britney Jean" album will be released on December 3.
