Britney Spears, the pop star queen, and Jason Trawick have called off their engagement of a little over a year, according to CNN. The couple started dating in 2009, three years after Britney Spears' divorce from Kevin Federline.
The announcement was made on Friday, January 11, 2013 by Spears' public relations representative. Spears made the following statement about ending her engagement to Trawick, who was also Britney Spears former manager, "Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends."
The couple has had a rocky relationship in the past year and rumors circulated in 2012 that the couple would be calling off the wedding.
Spears also made headlines this week as the announcement came that she would not be returning to the "X Factor" as a judge for the next season. Spears' reason given for her departure from "X Factor" was that she was planning to get back into the studio to record new music for a new album. Spears was a judge on the "X Factor" for only one season in 2012.
Rumors of a long term engagement for Spears in Las Vegas has also been circulating the internet.
