British editor predicts Kabul government will 'lose Helmand to Taliban'

On the heels of the news of al-Qaeda terrorists capturing the same Iraqi cities American troops and their allies fought so hard to free, a British editor is predicting that after the NATO troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Taliban eventually will retake control of Helmand province, as reported by Britain's Sky News Service on Jan. 7, 2014.

Sky's Diplomatic Editor Tim Marshall has mirrored Walter Cronkite in warning that with the looming US/NATO troops withdrawal from the central Asian nation, a resurgent Taliban terrorist organization is likely to regain control of the bloody southern Helmand province.

Marshall prefaces his prediction by reporting of a 10-year-old Afghan girl identified only as Spozhmai who was found to be wearing a suicide vest, and reportedly ordered to take out a police checkpoint.

The child was attired as such by her brother, a local Taliban commander. As Marshal notes, "The details are sketchy, nothing is proven, but the story still holds as a way of explaining why, after 10 years of training by NATO forces, the Afghan army will not be strong enough to hold on to the province."

According to iCasualties.org, nearly 1,000 American and Allied troops drew their last breaths in Helmand province alone.

The same website also cites 17,674 US troops have been awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received Afghanistan-wide.

As previously covered, al-Qaeda fighters have just taken the Iraqi cities of Fallujah and Ramadi in the embattled Anbar province.

During the course of the liberation of Iraq, well over 1,000 Americans were either killed or wounded in the same Anbar province that al-Qaeda recently captured.
