British Batman reveals his true identity (Photos)

The alter ego of the man dressed in the Batman outfit who delivered a suspected burglar to the West Yorkshire Police in Northern England on Feb. 25 and then quietly vanished into the night was not socialite / playboy Bruce Wayne, but Chinese takeout delivery man, Stan Worby, 39, Reuters shared yesterday.

Baffled by the portly figure dressed as the Dark Knight, the Bradford police released video surveillance photos taken inside the police station of the caped crusader commiserating with the burglary suspect.

Mr. Worby said he wasn’t on a crime-fighting crusade when he delivered the 27-year-old suspect to the police station, but was just helping out a friend.

He accompanied his friend to the police station to provide moral support and wore the Batman costume as a lark.

Worby went on to say that "obviously it was done as a joke."

On Feb. 24 while attending and watching the Bradford City team play in the English Capital One Cup soccer final, Worby was contacted by his friend and agreed to accompany that friend to the Bradford police station after the match.

"Obviously he wanted to get straight down there and I wanted my bed as it was half (past) one in the morning," Worby said.

Mr. Worby also takes issue with being characterized as “portly” in his Batman costume.

"I've got my full tracksuit underneath," he explained.
