Bristol Palin to draw on athletic background for Dancing With the Stars

Move over, Sarah Palin. Your daughter Bristol Palin also has her eyes set on a reality TV career as a contestant on Season 11 of Dancing With the Stars.

Bristol, 19, is anxious about dancing live in front of millions of people, but hopes her athletic background will pay off.

“I have no experience in dance and am naturally shy,” Bristol tells People. “But I come from an athletic background, so I’m thankful for that. [I played] basketball, volleyball, soccer, everything.”

'I Want to Show Off My Strong Work Ethic'

Palin, the single mom of a 20-month-old boy Tripp (with former fiance Levi Johnston), promises to dress demurely and not go overboard with sexy dance outfits.

“I think I will be the most dressed [contestant and have] the most modest outfits for sure because that’s who I am,” says Bristol, who says she wants to set a good example for her son.

“I see [Dancing With the Stars] as something that’s fun and positive, and I’m going to be able to show my work ethic to people out there," says Palin, who's super-excited to get in shape for the show.

Meanwhile, Bristol's mom, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin will debut her own reality show, Sarah Palin's Alaska on TLC in Nov. 2010, where former DWTS alum Kate Gosselin will make a guest appearance.

Bristol will compete on Dancing with the Stars against Baywatch alum David Hasselhoff, Jersey Shore star Mike "The Situation” Sorrentino, as well as former NFL star Kurt Warner, singer Michael Bolton, and actress Jennifer Grey.

Also competing are former Brady Bunch star Florence Henderson, The Hills alum Audrina Patridge, former Los Angeles Laker Rick Fox, singer Brandy, comedian Margaret Cho and actor Kyle Massey.

Season 11 of Dancing With the Stars premieres Sept. 20 on ABC.
