September 4, 2010 -- Late last night, Bristol Palin talked Dancing with the Stars with chat show host Jay Leno on The Tonight Show.
The 19-year-old mom told the TV host that she has been practicing for three days in order to begin her road to the possibility of winning the coveted mirror ball trophy. Meanwhile, as she takes to the floor boards, her mom, the former Alaska Governor, has gone carabou hunting back home.
There's not much of that being done in Hollywood, but there is a lot of learning to dance since Bristol has never had a lesson of this sort before.
Jay wondered if she had at least danced at her prom, but the young woman sweetly told him that she couldn't because she was pregnant.
Surprisingly, there was no pregnant pause when Bristol spoke up and as Jay pressed on, with the only comment on that matter being that Leno guessed if she had gone it could have been awkward. After that, the host complimented Bristol on her son, who was back stage, saying he is a good looking kid.
When Jay wondered if Palin was sad her relationship with Levi Johnston didn't work out, she smirked and said, "I am not heartbroken. I tried to make it work for my son and I realized it was not meant to be."
Bristol also mentioned that the guy she has known all her life has changed, drastically.
"It's like night and day," she told Leno.
Then it was on to talking about DWTS and how hard the work it is going to be because, as Palin admitted, she doesn't possess any coordination and or any rhythm.
"So, we're going to start from scratch," she said, whereupon Mark Ballas, her pro DWTS partner, came out to teach Bristol and Jay a few steps of the cha cha.
Both students were game but looked out of their comfort zone, Jay more than Bristol -- which isn't saying much.
Still, Ballas is optimistic about his new student, coming back at Leno when he asked if this protege can dance by saying, "We're getting there.'
And getting there they will when Bristol Paiin appears for the first time on Dancing with the Stars during the show debut on September 20. Meanwhile, maybe chat show host Jay Leno will be her guest on DWTS like she was his tonight on The Tonight Show. Oh, and she wasn't diva like at all. In fact, Bristol Palin was delightful.
