What would a Mardi Gras celebration be without a crazy cast of characters? You see them on the streets of New Orleans, and you get the same experience when you visit the Mardi Gras celebration at Universal Studios Florida. Actually, the Universal celebration is better in many ways, as it's fun and family friendly vs. the rather inebriated and unpredictable "characters" you run into in the Big Easy.
You'll want to bring your camera, as there are lots of great photo opportunities. Check out the slideshow accompanying this article to see just a few. The colorful characters come out in the late afternoon on Mardi Gras days (the event runs on select weekend days through May 31) and hang out just past the entrance of the park and around the French Quarter Courtyard area, which is the epicenter of the festivities.
What can you find in the courtyard itself? Jump to this article for a slideshow that shows some of the food and entertainment that awaits you. For an up close look at the authentic Cajun cuisine, go here. Check out this article to see how many beads you can catch.
