The Gonzales Community School PTA is hosting the Lobos River Run in Santa Fe on Sunday, September 29, 2013. The 5k run and walk event begins at 8 a.m. and the 1 mile fun run begins at 9:15 a.m. The awards ceremony will take place after both events at 10 a.m. The race course will begin and end at Alto Park across the street from the school. Registration is available online or registration forms can be mailed to the school at 851 West Alameda Street. Registration fees are as follows:
- Early registration (before September 16): 5k event ($20) and 1k event ($5)
- Late registration (after September 16): 5k event ($25) and 1k event ($10)
Registration is also available on race day from 6:30-7:30 a.m. The registration fee includes a t-shirt, raffle prizes, post-race refreshments, and water stations throughout the course. Race packets can be picked during the following times:
- September 25 from 2:30-3:30pm at Gonzales Community School
- September 27 from 12:15-1 p.m. and 2:30-3:15 p.m. at Gonzales Community School
- September 28 from 9 a.m. to noon at La Montanita Coop
- September 29 at 6:30 a.m. at the race event
Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 overall male and female finishers in the 5k event. These winners will receive gift certificates and medals. The top 3 male and female finishers in each age group will each receive a medal. All finishers in the 1 mile event will receive a finisher’s ribbon. Raffle prizes will also be awarded and you must be present to win.
Funds raised by the event will benefit programs at the Gonzales Community School. According to PTA Treasurer, Lynette Guevara, "
"The Lobos River Run is a fun, family-friendly event that promotes health and wellness for both the Gonzales Community School and the community at large. Funds raised from the event are used to support a variety of programs, including after-school clubs and innovative classroom projects.”
If you live in Santa Fe, bring the family to this race event along the Santa Fe River Trail. If you don't live in Santa Fe, use this event as an excuse to bring the family to Santa Fe for the day.
