Bring out yer dead: It's the 5th Annual Atlanta Zombie Walk and After Party

The time has come again for the dead to walk the earth.  These dirty, rotting corpses will shamble through the streets of Atlanta in search of one thing:  your brains!

Well, you know what they say.  If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

The 5th Annual Atlanta Zombie Walk will take place this Sunday, September 26.  The walk starts at 3pm at Eyedrum located at 290 Martin Luther King Drive SE.  Parking is limited, so it is strongly suggested that you take MARTA or carpool with as many people as possible.  The walk will go from Eyedrum to Oakland Cemetery, through downtown and onto MARTA (at the King Memorial station).

Last year, over 700 zombies participated in the walk.  According to the Facebook event page, over 3000 people have responded yes, but all of these people will not necessarily be participating.  (It's okay, the zombies need spectators to prey upon.)

If you are planning to walk and you need help with make-up, it is recommended that you get to Eyedrum as early as noon.  Several special FX make-up artists are donating their time and make-up to help the cause, so please bring a donation for them to show your appreciation.  It does not cost anything to participate in the walk, but if you're planning on riding MARTA you'll need $2 for the pass.

If you're going to be a helpless brain, I mean spectator, I recommend going to Oakland Cemetery to see the walk.  The zombies walk in and out through the main entrance, so you'll have two chances to see all of the undead characters.  And believe me, these are characters!  Several participants put a lot of time into designing their zombie characters, and you'll want to bring a camera to snap some shots of them.

Afterwards, whether you're a zombie that participated in the walk or one of the few survivors, the official Zombie Walk Atlanta Afterparty will be held at the Graveyard Tavern.  The party begins at 7pm and will feature a zombie costume contest, horror movies played on large projector screens, DJs and dancing, and prizes--not to mention all of the delicious food and drinks that the tavern has to offer.  The Graveyard is located at 1247 Glenwood Ave SE, and the party will go until the tavern shuts down.

Zombie Walk is an experience like none other.  An international phenomenon, this is your chance to see it in your own backyard.  Don't miss the 5th Annual Atlanta Zombie Walk and After Party this Sunday, September 26.
