New Orleans may love their po boys and muffulettas, but there's always room for sushi!

Come on out on Sunday, August 17 for the New Orleans Sushi Fest & Competition. Presented by East Jefferson General Hospital, the inaugural New Orleans Sushi Fest will feature both sushi and non-sushi restaurants serving sushi in addition to additional Japanese infused dishes for purchase. Each participating chef will compete in various categories and one sushi chef will be crowned the 2014 Grand Champion by a panel of judges.

In addition to sushi, sushi, and more delectable sushi, the evening would not be complete without Japanese beer, sake, and live entertainment provided by the ever eclectic Bag of Donuts. There will also be a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony, origami, fan painting, Japanese bookmark painting, and the first 200 guests will receive a complimentary Bento Box with items from the New Orleans Sushi Fest's various vendors. The VIP Patron Japanese Tea Room Party Sponsored by Sapporo Beer will run from 1 to 2 P.M.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Japan Society of New Orleans and Japan Club of New Orleans.

The New Orleans Sushi Fest & Competition will take place at the River City ballroom at Mardi Gras World next to the convention center. General Admission tickets are $10 in advance and $20 at the door; VIP Tickets are $50 in advance and $75 at the door.
