Bring a Friend Challenge

January is Learn to Ski and Snowboard (LSSM). With the slogan that "Humans were never meant to hibernate", organizers want to get more and more people out on the hill. New this year is the national “Bring a Friend Challenge” which is currently underway and ends on March 17, 2013.

Participating in the Challenge means introducing and helping enroll newcomers to a lesson or lessons provided by a professional instructor. In other words, organizers want newcomers to "Go with a Pro" or a certified (PSIA-AASI) professional. Sponsors are offering prizes for anyone who motivates newcomers whether they are current skiers and snowboarders or newcomers themselves.

Here is how it works:

1) Current skiers or snowboarders are encouraged to “Take the Challenge” by introducing newcomers to a lesson or lessons from professional instructors.

2) Newcomers who invite friends or family members to a venue for a beginner lesson or lessons package now can “Take the Challenge” as well.

Inviters (current skiers or snowboarders) or Invitees (newcomers) can log in at www.bringafriend.org and enter to win the prizes. Product prizes include skis from HEAD, Rossignol and Salomon (from skis.com); snowboards from Rossignol, RAMP and Firefly (from snowboards.org); outfits from Boulder Gear, gloves and mittens from SWANY, snowboard boots from Celsius, subscriptions from SKI and TransWorld magazines. Grand prizes include four day trips to Idaho (Sun Valley), Utah (Deer Valley, Park City and The Canyons) and Vermont (Smugglers’ Notch).
