Hear the skinny straight from Fast Eddy
"It was like the old days. The best Brimfield ever. It was a great show!" These were the salutations on people's lips when I polled the dealers at Brimfield this year. I was at the show most of the week, to interview people and take the pulse of the antiques market. It's strong!
Even furniture dealers were reporting great sales, and furniture, has been slow for the past few years.Armed with my new Android HTC Incredible phone, I set out to find people like Fast Eddie Fargnoli, Ron & Deb Bethony, Tricia LeTempt and others to interview, take photos and video footage. Please note, I said my NEW ANDROID phone. This thing has more bells & whistles that a freight train full of wheezing hobos! I'm still learning how to use this complicated device. Suffice to say, that not all the footage came out as planned.
Tricia LeTempt from Red Door Antiques, had about 3 sales in the short time I was there for her video interview. Trish had a booth full of great primitive antiques, and a very cool multi-drawer, hand made cabinet.
Ron & Deb Bethoney from www.CampelloAntiques.com provided the most animated video content interview! Ron is a great guy, and a master closer. With blues music in the background, a phenomenal display of antiques, fine glass & china, I knew I was in a great place to shoot a video. After 2 minutes in the tent, I felt like I was welcomed into a party more-so than an antiques booth. The couple also let me review many items and the prices they had on those item. Watch the video to find out how they price their items and negotiate a sale.
Want to arrive at July's 2010 Brimfield event in style? Then consider purchasing an antique horse buggy from professional buggy restorer Leon Demers. Leon was kind enough to educate me one buggies, their going prices and particular uses. See that video interview here.
There a millions of antiques and just as many reasons to attend the Brimfield Antiques Show, but the best reason to go is the people. When you attend you'll meet the most unique and interesting characters in the antiques business.
It was an honor and a pleasure to meet and interview Fast Eddie Fargnoli of North Providence RI. His love for the event and the people that attend it pours out of him as easily as the stories he tells. Eddie has been coming to the show since 1968, he's 80 years old. He packs, loads and drives his truck up 3 times a year. I couldn't think of a better person to interview. Eddie IS Brimfield. Enjoy the video interview with Fast Eddie below. Oh, and by the way, if your in the Providence area, and have things to sell, look up Eddie, he is always looking to make a purchase.
Eddie was nice enough to grant me a full half hour audio interview which will be posted soon on The Auction Wally Show.
I have a lot more content including videos and price reports that will be featured here soon, so stay tuned or better yet, subscribe to the feed.
