Brimaz, King of Oreskos is one of the newest "Magic: The Gathering" card spoiled today Jan. 17, 2014 from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert expansion set "Born of the Gods" in an article by Luis Scott-Vargas on This powerful new mythic rare legendary creature will make a defining impact on Standard.

Brimaz, King of Oreskos - 1WW
Legendary Creature - Cat Soldier (Mythic Rare)
Whenever Brimaz, King of Oreskos attacks, put a 1/1 white Cat Soldier creature token with vigilance onto the battlefield attacking.
Whenever Brimaz blocks a creature, put a 1/1 white Cat Soldier creature token with vigilance onto the battlefield blocking that creature.

Abusing Brimaz, King of Oreskos means you'll want to be attacking and blocking with it every turn if possible, however you don't want it to die in combat. Archetype of Courage will give both Brimaz, King of Oreskos and the creature tokens it creates first strike, giving you the vital edge to always come out victorious. Spear of Heliod will pump all your creatures making them even deadlier while being able to destroy any threats that manage to slip past your defenses.

Scott-Vargas recommends adding Brimaz, King of Oreskos to an aggressive Boros deck packed with powerful weenies such as Soldier of the Pantheon, Dryad Militant, Boros Elite, and Frontline Medic backed up with Boros Charm and Ajani, Caller of the Pride. Another idea might be to go blue, as one card in particular that works well with Brimaz, King of Oreskos is Ephara, God of the Polis, allowing you to draw a card every turn even if you don't cast a creature from your hand.

With a toughness of four, Brimaz, King of Oreskos can survive a Bile Blight or Drown in Sorrow, two important new black removal spells from the set. It's without question that Brimaz, King of Oreskos will find its way into many new Standard decks, perhaps even yours.

How will you use Brimaz, King of Oreskos?
