Bows, baubles, gems and all those pretty little things were the common theme this October for accessories aficionado, Brighton Collectibles and timeless chic outfitter, Ann Taylor. The two fashion labels have once again joined the ranks of countless other retail brands who have created special collections or limited edition single items to benefit breast cancer research. In honor of October’s “Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” Brighton combined sparkle with classic craftsmanship in the form of dainty heart shaped earrings and a bracelet adorned with a heart shaped charm of white and pink Swarovski crystals. Ten years in the running, “The Power of Pink” collection has seen ten unique bracelet designs including this year’s creation and is expected to generate over $500,000 in charitable revenue.
While Brighton’s “Power of Pink” featured bracelet and earrings will raise $10 for every $60 item sold, each pink bedazzled, charmed or gem clad ring, bracelet, wallet, earrings and or purse generates 10% in revenue of the purchase price for local breast cancer charities. Founders Jerri and Terri Kohl have always been committed to empowering women and supporting families by utilizing the company’s philosophy of offering rare beauty at exceptional quality. The only line that boasts dressing a woman from “head to toe” started as a men’s belt manufacturer before adding women’s accessories, has rapidly expanded from a boutique to a global brand with over 160 flagship stores nationwide. Brighton Collectibles has contributed over $4.75 million dollars to breast cancer charities nationwide since 2003, keeping with their pledge to give back to the community.
Much like the effects of breast cancer, the “Power of Pink” line caters to women old and young, ranging in tastes from glam to classic. There’s trendy, charm and friendship bracelets for young girls, vintage silver earrings and pendants with a touch of pink for moms and professional women and shiny, croc embossed leatherette clutches and wallets for edgy fashionistas. However you opt to accessorize to show your support, Brighton calls it “pretty with a purpose.”
Ann Taylor presents a “glamorous way to give” via their “Brilliant Bow Collection,” dazzling, blinged out yet feminine pieces of neck and arm candy. The necklace features a white rhinestone encrusted bow dangling from a gold tone chain made up of large round gemstones. A complementary stretch bracelet fashioned into a bow also decorated with rhinestones completes the limited edition set created to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. In conjunction with the “Ann Cares” gift card, 70% of the proceeds from sales of both the bracelet and necklace will be donated to the breast cancer cure and prevention non-profit dedicated to raise funds and awareness to one day eradicate the second leading cause of cancer death among women.
For a one time fee of $25, the “Ann Cares” gift card allows customers to take off an additional 20-25% of promotional priced items valid at any Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft location through October 31st or while supplies last. Ninety percent of revenue from card sales will also benefit breast cancer research. The beautifully designed jewelry and savvy gift card program are part of Ann Taylor’s corporate mission to “act responsibly” -- ethically with their products, morally through community based efforts and socially through environmental initiatives. More than fashion and style, Ann strives to inspire women to “put their best selves forward every day.”
Described as the color of hope, for Brighton Collectibles and Ann Taylor, the brilliant “Power of Pink” lies in making women of all ages look fabulous while bringing the gift of good health to millions of women affected by breast cancer everywhere.
