A man allegedly threw a coke in a woman's face and attempted to hit her with a vehicle Friday afternoon in Athens.

Officers have charged Mr. Franklin Eugene Clarke with aggravated assault, Athens-Clarke County police said Saturday.

Around 3 p.m. Friday, officers responded to Atlanta Avenue after getting a report of a domestic disturbance, Lt. Patrick Whitmore said. When they arrived, the suspect attempted to run but was caught after a short foot chase, he said.

“The victim Sharday Johnson said that she and Clarke got into an argument, during the argument Johnson said Clarke threw a Coke in her face,” Lt. Whitmore said. “Johnson said Clarke also tried to run over her in a white Chevrolet Impala.”

A man allegedly kidnapped and raped a juvenile at gunpoint after luring her into his car Friday in Athens-Clarke County.

Mr. Daryle Edward Jones was charged with rape, aggravated assault, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and kidnapping, Athens-Clarke County police said Saturday.

Investigators said Mr. Jones lured the victim into his vehicle and once inside he locked the doors preventing her escape.

“Mr. Jones drove to a secluded area in Athens where he produced a firearm and sexually assaulted the victim,” Lt. Patrick Whitmore said.

He remained in the Clarke County jail Saturday.
