Man Accused of Imprisoning and Raping Teenage Family Member
A 35-year-old man remained in jail Sunday after he allegedly imprisoned and raped a 15-year-old girl who went to meet him during a custody arrangement in Athens.
The investigation began around 8 a.m. Friday when officers responded to a business on West Broad Street to meet the teen, police Lt. Willie Brinkley said. The 15-year-old told police that she had gone to a West Athens home to meet the offender who then allegedly held her against her will and sexually assaulted her, Brinkley said.
It’s unclear what time she arrived at the home, but police said she was able to leave the home Friday and went to a business for help, Brinkley said.
Collado remained in the Clarke County jail Sunday without bond, according to booking records.
One Killed and Five Others Injured in Multi-Vehicle Wreck that Blocked Ga. 316
One person was killed and five others injured in a six-vehicle collision that blocked all lanes of Ga. 316 Sunday afternoon in Gwinnett County. So far, officials have not identified any of the victims and it was unclear late Sunday what caused the deadly multi-vehicle wreck.
The incident happened around 3:20 p.m. on Ga. 316 eastbound beneath the Lawrenceville Suwanee Road bridge, according to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services. Firefighters responded the location after obtaining a report of a multiple vehicle accident with entrapments, spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said.
There were numerous calls to 911 reporting the wreck, which happened just south of Ga. 120, Rutledge said. When crews arrived, they found that a total of six vehicles were involved and multiple people were injured.
One vehicle had flipped several times and came to rest upright, Rutledge said. Firefighters had to extricate two people who were trapped in one of the vehicles, he said.
Three critically-injured patients were transported by ambulance to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville where one has since died, according to media reports. A fourth person was also transported to the hospital with moderate injuries while two others were treated for minor injuries at the scene, Rutledge said.
All lanes eastbound and westbound of Ga. 316 were closed for several hours due to the accident and debris, Rutledge said.
The Lawrenceville police are investigating the cause of the wreck, but Gwinnett police reportedly said that the at-fault driver had a warrant out in DeKalb County for vehicular homicide in a separate case, Channel 2 Action News reported.
