'Bridget Jones's Baby' due in theaters in 2013

Tim Bevan, the co-chairman of Working Title Films, states the third installment of the “Bridget Jones’s Diary” franchise is under development. The Third film will be titled, “Bridget Jones’s Baby.”

Eight years have passed since Zellweger last played the role of Bridget Jones. “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason” was released in 2004 and was what we thought the successful conclusion for the single girl.

Bevan claims the making of “Bridget Jones’s Baby” is “like herding cats, but they’re beginning to fall in line.”

Bevan confirmed the cast has been told about the third installment, although he didn’t say who they may be. Obviously it would have to be Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth, with a possible appearance by Hugh Grant. At least, let’s hope it will still be Firth and Grant. “Edge of Reason” ended with Renee and Firth in a relationship. Will the hopeless single woman go it alone with a baby in the third film?

The Bridget Jones movies were born from Helen Fielding’s novels. Fielding first wrote the story in a newspaper column in “The Independent” in 1995.

Working Title Films has a release date for sometime this year.
