After losing their first game of the opening season Saturday night, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers came back on Sunday for a 4-3 win over the Norfolk Admirals at Webster Bank Arena. There was no scoring in the first period, but the second period brought plenty of action with 5 of the 6 goals being scored. The first goal coming at 4:56 by Norfolks Mitch Friberg which gave the Admirals a 1-0 lead. The lead was short lived however when the Sound Tigers Wetmore scored only 4 minutes later. The Admirals fired right back with a goal by Richard Rakell giving the Admirals a 2-1 lead. Forty four seconds later the Sound Tigers Pedan scored giving the game a 2-2 score. Later in the period, the Sound Tigers took the lead, this time on the power play. Ryan Strome, scored giving the Sound Tigers a 3-2 lead. The score remained 3-2 headed into the third period, but Norfolks Devante Smith-Pelly scored bringing it to 3-3. The game then headed into a shootout, with the Sound Tigers John Persson’s scoring in the sixth round giving the Sound Tigers a 4-3 victory.
Bridgeport returns this Saturday night against the Manchester Monarchs. The puck drops from Webster Bank Arena at 7 p.m.
