Some might be angered or at least annoyed at all the bridge and road projects that are ongoing in Lehigh County. A list from the PA Department of Transportation (PennDoT) currently has ten in progress; although many residents think there are much more.
But temporary traffic snarls, construction detours, and elongated travel times are not the only things accomplished by these projects, there is a tremendous amount of financial and goodwill gained from these projects.
Even if the company with the winning bid is not directly local, they will tend to use the local work force for the everyday tasks, many local construction companies are also used in the projects to keep cost reasonable, and the ancillary business provided by having more people in the area (eating at local restaurants and shopping at local stores) can be a shot in the arm for the Valley.
Besides the financial gain many of the local projects will either improve or provide greater access to area, as well as improving the overall images of the region, which is good for home buying, shopping, and giving others a multitude of reason to visit and stay in the area.
