Pronovias creative force Manuel Mota, the Spanish brands designer for 23 years has died yesterday at the age of 46.
Known for creating at least three collections yearly, each of these collections were at the core of the Pronovias line. Creator of a high-end design for edgy brides as well as a collection of cocktail and mother-of-the-bride dresses; Mota was a designer who had a style and design that was truly unique. He was also credited for helping to build the family brand, into a world-brand in the wedding and high-society event industry.
Australian model Miranda Kerr and Israeli model Bar Rafaeli appeared on the catwalks in Mota's bridal creations. Mota also designed the celebrated dress of Dutch supermodel Doutzen Kroes for her 2010 wedding.
“The Pronovias family has lost one of its best loved members,” Alberto Palatchi, president of the Barcelona-based bridal company, said in a brief statement. “We are left with the memory of so many collections, so many catwalk shows, so much effort and talent. Manuel was a great partner, a great artist and above all, a great person. We will never forget him.”
The fashion house said in a statement that Mota died Tuesday at his home near Barcelona. Wednesday's statement did not give the cause of death. What we do know is that the Wedding industry and brides worldwide have lost a true treasure.
