Brian Wilson discusses Amazon.com bonus tracks

With the release of Brian Wilson’s new album In The Key Of Disney, Brian took time out of his busy schedule to discuss his chilhood memories of Disneyland and the album’s bonus tracks.

David Beard: Brian, what is your earliest memory of Disneyland?
Brian Wilson: I just remember that it was so strange being in this world called “Disney Land;” it was like going in another world. I remember Pirates of the Caribbean and the Matterhorn (Bobsleds). The Matterhorn scared me so much…it was such a scary ride…

DB: What was your favorite Disney movie when you were young?
BW: Pinocchio is absolutely my favorite Disney movie and record.

DB: Brian, what is your favorite Disney movie now?
BW: It’s still Pinocchio, believe it or not.

DB: In The Key Of Disney compares you and Walt Disney for “shaping the image of California”…
BW: I think the Sherman brothers did a picturesque job of capturing American California feeling, and I thought I did good justice to their songs using Beach Boys type harmonies.

DB: Talk about the two Amazon.com bonus tracks: “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes” and “Peace On Earth.”
BW: [Sings] “A dream is a wish your heart makes”…The session went very slow, we learned it and then realized we were in the wrong key, so we had to change the key, but it worked out great though. The lyrics to “Peace On Earth” are absolutely beautiful!

DB: Brian, there are a lot of different tempos used on this album…
BW: I didn’t want it to be a boring album. I wanted to make an album that would hold people’s interest while they were listening…that’s why we did that. We want to people to appreciate the songs.
